Mock Draft 3.5

Late Sunday, Santonio Holmes was traded for a 5th round draft pick from The New York Jets. After further efforts of players' potential and team needs, we won't go through another full draft, but to alter a few picks and I figured I'd add another round.

1ST ROUND

1. ST. LOUIS RAMS:
Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma.

Although other teams are entertaining Bradford, The Rams have their eyes set on him.
(Previous: Bradford)

2. DETROIT LIONS:
Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State.

Plain and Simple: Matthew Stafford needs all the help he can get; and if he can put more fans in the stands, The Lions can consider themselves "on the way".
(Previous: Okung)

3. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS:
Ndamakong Suh, DT, Nebraska

Big bodied Suh definitely can shine in Tampa Bay. The more tape I watch of Suh, he's becoming my number 1 defensive tackle again.
(Previous: Gerald McCoy)

4. WASHINGTON REDSKINS:
Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma.

As noted before, Chris Samuels' departure does leave a gaping hole for the protection of their newly acquired QB.
(Previous: Williams)

5. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS:
Eric Berry, S, Tennessee.

I originally chose an OT, but seeing the fire power within the division, The Chiefs' secondary needs much improvement.
(Previous: Bryan Bulaga)

6. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS:
Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa.

Initially, I had Suh, but Suh isn't available. McCoy is; although I don't think Carroll in his first year would take a chance at not answering his needs on the O-Line.
(Previous: Ndamakong Suh)

7. CLEVELAND BROWNS:
Joe Haden, CB, Florida.

Since this was a shake up due to the fact Berry went earlier, The Browns are in dying need of a corner.
(Previous: Eric Berry)

8. OAKLAND RAIDERS:
Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma.

Although I do love a quick player here, I don't think Al Davis would pass up on McCoy.
(Prevoius: Jimmy Clausen)

9. BUFFALO BILLS:
Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame.

Since Clausen would be available, The Bills will be quick to jump on him. If not, who else would you have under center?
(Previous: Dez Bryant)

10. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS:
Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas.

Much needed depth for the pass rush is essential. Kindle also has the ability to play DE if needed.
(Previous: Derrick Morgan)

11. DENVER BRONCOS:
Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama.

Noted as one of the most pro ready players in this year's draft, there is still no change here.
(Previous: McClain)

12. MIAMI DOLPHINS:
Brandon Graham, OLB/DE, Michigan.

Graham has the versatility to move between the OLB to a DE. A proven pass rusher, he'll fit right in The Fins' 3-4 scheme.
(Previous: Sergio Kindle)

13. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS:
Earl Thomas, S, Texas.

My reason for this still hasn't changed.
(Previous: Thomas)

14. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS:
C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson.

This is simply answering the needs of a team under construction, with a new coach.
(Previous: Bruce Campbell)

15. NEW YORK GIANTS:
Sean Witherspoon, OLB, Missouri.

Inside and outside abilities, Witherspoon has become another player that won't be moving in any other mock drafts. Unless he's taken earlier.
(Previous: Witherspoon)

16. TENNESSEE TITANS:
Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech.

Much needed help on the edges, Morgan is the top in the draft.
(Previous: Jason Pierre-Paul)

17. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS:
Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho.

This may be somewhat of an odd choice, but Coach Singletary loves to ground and pound. Especially since they won't have a proven QB manning the offense.
(Previous: Anthony Davis)

18. PITTSBURGH STEELERS:
Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State.

Dez Bryant is a strong possibility here, but there are only a few decent corners left and an ample amount of offensive striking power.
(Previous: Joe Haden)

19. ATLANTA FALCONS:
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida.

There's a void with their pass rush game. Pierre-Paul will definitely help fill in.
(Previous: Brandon Graham)

20. HOUSTON TEXANS:
Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers.

Putting the next available corner at this spot. Still a better choice than reaching for a RB.
(Previous: Kyle Wilson)

21. CINCINNATI BENGALS:
Taylor Mays, S, USC.

Still haven't changed this pick. The AFC North is stacked with playmakers, and Mays would help alot in the secondary, or as an OLB to help stop the run.
(Previous: Mays)

22. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:
Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State.

Sam Aiken as a #2 is even harder to swallow, especially if Dez Bryant were to actually fall this far down.
(Previous: Everson Griffen)

23. GREEN BAY PACKERS:
Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland.

Although the secondary is a primary concern, Campbell would be too much to pass up on at the 23rd overall pick.
(Previous: Devin McCourty)

24. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:
Maurkice Pouncey, OG/C, Florida.

Strengthening the front line will help the run game, and help protect that offense. At the same time, it would extremely help refacing that offense.
(Previous: Pouncey)

25. BALTIMORE RAVENS:
Patrick Robinson, CB, Rutgers.

I did like Carlos Dunlap, but Robinson seemingly is rising in the ranks.
(Previous: Carlos Dunlap)

26. ARIZONA CARDINALS:
Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers.

Davis would be a steal and a surprise if he were still available at 26. The Cardinals need much improvement on the line, and especially when you'll be having a competition at the QB position this offseason.
(Previous: Daryl Washington)

27. DALLAS COWBOYS:
Daryl Washington, ILB, TCU.

Washington's availability here would tempt the Cowboys to pick him up.
(Previous: Jerry Hughes)

28. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS:
Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee.

Although a RB is extremely needed, a NT would be the better way to go because there will be more backs available in the second round, as opposed to nose tackles.
(Previous: C.J. Spiller)

29. NEW YORK JETS:
Ricky Sapp, OLB/DE, Clemson.

Sapp has the ability to play OLB and DE. With Santonio Holmes being traded, solidifying that defense would be a force to be reckoned with.
(Previous: Golden Tate)

30. MINNESOTA VIKINGS:
Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State.

Odrick would be too much to pass up on here. That D-Line needs help, and now is the time to pick up a DT.
(Previous: Odrick)

31. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS:
Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama.

Jackson and McCourty have been bouncing around, but Jackson is the one that lands here.
(Previous: Patrick Robinson)

32. NEW ORLEANS:
Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State.

Adding another versatile back to the rotation will definitely bring more reign to The Saints.
(Previous: Matthews)

2ND ROUND

33. ST. LOUIS RAMS:
Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame.

Between the top 3 remaining WRs between Tate, Thomas, and Benn, I think Tate would be perfect here although both are ranked higher.

34. DETROIT LIONS:
Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech.

Now to bring more offensive help for Stafford, Dwyer's athleticism will help the offense out just fine.

35. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS:
Corey Wooton, DE, Northwestern.

The rebuilding of that D-Line will be the Buccs' top priority.

36. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS:
Roger Saffold, OT, Indiana.

Matt Cassell will get the help he needs, and Saffold would be a steal here.

37. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:
Nate Allen, S, South Florida.

Not really a fill in for Dawkins, but Allen should do fine.

38. CLEVELAND BROWNS:
Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois.

Mike Holmgren is looking at the QB situation, I personally think he'll reach out to Dan LeFevour or Tony Pike.

39. OAKLAND RAIDERS:
Colt McCoy, QB, Texas.

A scrambling QB? Check! Al Davis would really love McCoy as his signal caller.

40. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS:
Jahvid Best, RB, California.

So far, if the Chargers go this way, they've succeeded in the draft. IF they take this route.

41. BUFFALO BILLS:
Charles Brown, OT, USC.

Now we need to give Jimmy Clausen help.

42. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS:
Chris Cook, CB, Virginia.

Standing at 6-2, Cook has the ability to play in that zone D and eventually take over that aging secondary.

43. MIAMI DOLPHINS:
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Georgia Tech.

Thomas would definitely add fire power to this high octane offense.

44. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:
Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma.

Look for Belichick to quickly assume Gresham has the ability to start.

45. DENVER BRONCOS:
Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama.

A fellow 'Bama, Cody would extremely be a steal here. This big boy will definitely cause havoc in the middle. Also look for the Broncos to try a back also.

46. NEW YORK GIANTS:
Brian Price, DT, UCLA.

Price would be a strong addition in the middle of that line.

47. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:
Tim Tebow, QB, Florida.

There is a strong possibility Tebow can land with the Patriots, and if there was a time for that, it would be this pick.

48. CAROLINA PANTHERS:
Dexter McCluster, WR/KR, Mississippi.

McCluster might be one of the fastest kids in the draft, and he might be the answer to complementing, then replacing Steve Smith.

50. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS:
Tyson Alualu, DT, California.

Alualu is a sleeper in the draft, but an emerging sleeper.

51. HOUSTON TEXANS:
Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford.

Gerhart will be that bruiser back The Texans are looking for.

52. PITTSBURGH STEELERS:
LeGarrette Blount, RB, Oregon.

Although he has some off-field issues, Blount is an extraordinary runner that can complement Rashard Mendenhall.

53. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS:
Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida.

Much needed help now that Jarvis Green is gone.

54. CINCINNATI BENGALS:
Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida.

Hernandez might be that TE vertical threat to stretch out the defense.

55. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:
Navorro Bowman, OLB, Penn State.

Bowman can be a nice addition to Philly's aggressive defense.

56. GREEN BAY PACKERS:
Dominique Franks, CB, Oklahoma.

Franks hasn't been making much noise, but he does have capabilities that can blossom if he were to play behind those corners in Green Bay.

57. BALTIMORE RAVENS:
Geno Atkins, DT, Alabama.

That aging D-Line should be answered by now seeing Atkins would be the best choice here.

58. ARIZONA CARDINALS:
Brandon Spikes, MLB, Florida.

It would be far fetched for the Cardinals to assume Spikes to be an immediate impact as Dansby was, but he will have some type of input. Let's just say he'll do fine as a rookie.

59. DALLAS COWBOYS:
Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale College.

Now this may be a reach, but the Cowboys cannot miss the chance to pick up the best available OT.

60. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS:
Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU.

Carroll will look to stock the offense early, seeing the remaining defensive players for their needs would not fit the value at the 60th overall pick.

61. NEW YORK JETS:
Selvish Capers, OT, West Virginia.

In need of protection for Mark Sanchez, Capers should be able to step in mid-season.

62. MINNESOTA VIKINGS:
Dominique Franks, CB, Oklahoma.

I would like to pick up a RB to add to the rotation, but in need of a CB, Franks can play the nickel for now, then potentially cover the #2 receiver or primary.

63. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS:
J.D. Walton, C, Baylor.

Walton can be the suitable future replacement for Jeff Saturday.

64. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS:
Chad Jones, S, LSU.

Jones had his moments on defense. He can be that free runner deep down field or in the zone. He may not be Darren Sharper, but under the right circumstances, he will shine.
